Seth over at the Altered Page has asked us to Dig deeper for some of our Buried Treasures ..........(past post from our blogs)...as a way for all of us in blogland to get to know a little more about each other............so much of our time is spent visiting other artist's blogs.......but...... do we really get to dig that deep? This is perfect.....a little mini blogatini

I have had fun visiting all the artists that are in on Seth's (yet again...another amazing and amusing collaboration!)

So.......I am having online issues lately (been on the road....seems like the whole summer)........thought I would do a duet...and save some time.....so

Seth has had another collaboration going on ..........

Disintegration Collaboration

It all began in the dark of winter...artists placing their art out in the elements and letting Momma Nature do Her thing with it...................

Then the Reveal in May..................

And Then Magic Will Appear in August!!!!!!

Bahamian Palm

In Memory of My Charly Girl

Another photo of Charly mixed with a painting of a palm...the photo was taken on one of the most beautiful and deserted beaches in the Bahamas. We would go for days and not see another person or boat. Shells and sea glass untouched by human hands, bright orange starfish and conch scattered the ocean floor. I still dream of it and when my soul aches from all the craziness of this world, I return to that place in my mind.

OK .......I sooo forgot to post my Buried Treasure..........Thanks for the Heads Up Seth ..from The Altered Page.... .the brains behind this Treasure Hunt! I think my brains have been on a LONGGGG vacation.....really.... I am in Houston having a great time with my hubby and just plain 'ole forgot....so sorry!

Interview Blog Game

Melissa from Ohio has this very fun Blog interview GAME and I wanted to join in.......even though I had been looking in on her blog..........(she was my swap partner in the UNDER THE SEA SWAP hosted by Zan ).....I found out some things in her interview that I had wondered about but hadn't asked.....What I do know.....she makes beautiful seahorses...I was so thrilled to be her swap partner!
So....here are Melissa's questions to me and my 1 Minute of fame!

My INterview

1. A quick peek at your blog tells me you knit and do mixed media and work with clay. What other arts/crafts do you do and which of them all is your favorite?

My all time favorite thing to do is paint and try to add texture without much collage...... I can't stick with one medium for very long.........that's where the "gypsy"part comes in to play........and I don't stay put for very long either! Think oils will be my next adventure.



2. What is your favorite subject matter? Do you prefer abstracts, realism, fantasy....?

Oh... that is an easy one.......ABSTRACTS!



3. How, if at all, are arts/crafts different in Mexico than in the US?

Not much different at all.......just extra materials to play with.......Milagros and tin are everywhere........recycled anything is in many pieces of Mexican art.



4. How has Mexico influenced your creativity?

It's the easy going lifestyle.... the brilliant colors ....the warm and oh so friendly people! Siesta time is fabulous!

5. Both of your homes are in warm, sunny, ocean climates. If you won a third home anywhere in the world, where would it be?

So interesting you asked this question......we used to live on a sailboat and traveled with our twin daughters down the East coast and the Bahamas for several years before settling in Mexico............we have since sold the boat and now I am thinking..... Texas Hill Country......on a river......complete...with chickens....a goat......horse...garden and lots of space for all the other family that will be coming into our lives. (we have four grown daughters and two grand munchkins......)

I believe thoughts turn in to things...........I am thinking Hill Country!

The Making of a Sea Creature

Made some paper cloth from muslin and collaged papers......added some inks and stamps

cut out a fish.........added fancy tail ........stuffed her..........Of course I added some tulle

work hardened steel for fins..........Senorita Pescado is born!

Hope my SWAP partner........Melissa from Ohio doesn't SEA this before Senorita Pescado is swimming across the postal ocean to her new home!

A Big Thank you to Zan from Wild at Heart for being the Hostess with the Mostess........ Senorita Pescado's twin sister is on her way............the girls made a brief stop in Vegas before heading to their new homes!

Encaustic Mess

Yesterday I pulled out some of my unused art supplies(how do we artists collect so much ?)and decided to give encaustics a try......I have used bees wax before in a very small piece and liked the results. So......on to a larger project I went..... Started with a canvas board and on one piece used stamps and then added the medium.......added alcohol inks and another layer of medium....fused with heat gun.....added another layer of medium and a shell..fused and more medium etc.

The other piece was also on canvas board with watercolors as a base.......medium...alcohol inks....medium...photo on pattern. paper.....medium.......fuse.......punchnella with oil sticks....medium....fuse(ARE YOU BORED?)carved into and more oil sticks.....fuse......rusty piece of something......more medium and fusing.

All the techniques are better explained in the Encaustic Workshop book I was reading.........I went straight to the Break The Rules chapter.....:) Do you also love books as much as your art supplies? I believe I could open my own library right here in Bucerias.........

What about the mess part mentioned in the title...........I had that stuff all over me! Should have read the part about wearing gloves.......(note to self)......follow directions.......follow directions.......follow directions.

These girls made their way from Texas to Mexico in a handbag......now... this caused a small scene at the security check in the airport.........once I saw the smiles and something about skulls in Spanish being mentioned.........I knew the girls and I were in the clear and headed home.... the girls were headed to their new home at Christy's Gallery in Bucerias....A Broken Art and the Art Walk Plaza.

This is Christy enjoying a cold beverage in my studio.....HEY Christy!!! This is my shout out to you for another AWESOME season of the now Famous Bucerias Art Walk! I'm proud of YOU! Enjoy your free time.......you deserve it :) Ok.......she does have my art in her gallery....but I would shout out to her anyway. Christy and her faithful dog Ola, Sammi and I like to take walks on the beach every morning........well... I try.......anyway...... yelling Ola, Ola(HOLA is Spanish for Hello) and see how many people turn and look at you.....thinking....who me? Makes my day every time!

This is Important

Ok........Christy likes to have visiting artists every season....one night receptions, mini workshops etc....you might want to check it out! If all else fails .......you will still be in Paradise. I forgot to tell you..........the Gallery is one block from the Pacific OceanO

This is a video of my best friend in the whole wide world.....Beth Fedigan of South Padre Island, Texas(great artist....terrible at keeping up with her blog) giving her basket weaving workshop at Christy's Art Plaza. We had so much fun.....hunting for all the native materials used.........soaking these huge sheaths and fiber in my hot tub........the neighbors were a little curious as to what was floating in there...hehe...anyway great fun and I had my buddy to hang out with for too short of a time. Her art was a hit and she is doing it again next year!!!! A Working Vacation!

We had a great time checking out San Francisco...........found out I am Not a city girl.....the crowds( the line to get in MOMA..forget it)...the traffic......the homeless......there really is no place like home. So........I am going to make you snore with a little video of the trip.........come along if you wish..... but..... make sure to wear some flowers in your hair. I can't believe I didn't get pics of Haight-Ashbury.....

Magic Play

I had such a great time yesterday.........with the studio back in a semi- organized state....I pulled out that ohh so Magic clay .......and the fun began! I am a visual learner.......so getting instructions from print......well..just not my thing.....somehow I got it! So.....with torch in hand......MAGIC!

As some of you who follow my ramblings might have picked up on..........I am not only a gypsy spirit......but also......am a Gypsy Artist.....and love every single second of the journey. Even if I wanted to........I doubt if I could stick to one art form......I am always thrilled to learn something new and exciting...........and you?

OK ...that gypsy thing.........I am taking off for ALCATRAZ.......really....San Francisco for the first time ever........any favorite spots you might want to share with Surfer Dude and I?

Mexican Sunset Explosion

I am back in my little piece of PARADISE.......it is so good to be here.....walking the beach.....hanging with SD......and Sammi girl.......home sweet home!

See this gorgeous sunset exploding over the Pacific Ocean.......... it takes my breath away every time I see it.........I want to run and grab my paints and brushes and capture that perfect moment..........just a slight problema.......

Since my last two trips to Texas I have been just dumping all my new treasures in the studio.......it is time to organize and create.......something....anything......Do you get that same overwhelming feeling of.......I think I just might implode or explode if I don't get in the studio and do Something? Please share your thoughts while I go create something!

Mexico Travels

I am a really great wife!! I didn't want SD to drive back to Mexico alone.......so we did a 2 day road trip from Texas to Mexico. We arrived home yesterday and I am leaving to go back tomorrow!!! Oohhhh yes.......I am a Great wife. My reward? One whole week with the Grandest Grand kiddos in the world! Spring Break has begun.........

Samantha is so happy to be back at the beach.........she had some problems with all the twisting, winding roads thru the mountains.........she was fine if she could lay her head on my shoulder.........she would have rather had shotgun........but sorry ...I am not that great.
